Welcome to my new website!

I always used to enjoy writing my blog but with life and Covid and a kiln to play with I sort of forget it a little bit. So, what's happening in my world? The plan (yes there really is a plan!) is to find a forever home that can accommodate kittens and kilns and paintbrushes and a garden - possibly with goats, not sure on that one still. The idea is to generally have a chilled creative life and update you on what we get up to. I was discounted at school as being not artisitc as I got good grades in maths and physics, but there is a creative in all of us. You just need to connect with what yours is. For me I was never going to be the traditional painter or potter, but I accidentally discovered the glass some years ago and to be honest, I just couldn't imagine my life without a kiln now. It's been a long, tough journey to get to where I am today with the glass and the wonderful thing is I know I've barely scratched the surface of what this amazing medium can do. That's partly why a bigger forever home comes in, if you thought my house had a dining room think again, it's chocabloc with boxes of frit, glass, moulds and lots of 'oooohh that's rather shiny' purchases along the way. That's the thing with glass, there are just soooooo many shiny things to find and play with. It really is like a kid in a sweet shop somedays!
So, the plan is get a little more organised hence the new website which is still being tinkered with. I'm trying my hardest to get onto FaceBook a little bit more as I've found some awesome groups of makers and crafters to chat with. Also, there are a glut of events I'm signed up to this year so hopefully get to meet a few more folk this year. I genuinely think Covid did a lot of damage to our confidence and sociability and it would be nice to try and get a little back. I still use twitter or X or whatever he's changed it to this week but to be honest, it's not so much fun anymore. I'm hoping whoever does take it on brings back the fun a little. Also, and this is rather exciting I stumbled across a new selling platform that I'm in the process of getting onto so hopefully with a mix of new website, events and other outlets the glass really does become a real option to me. I also want to blog more, I do loads of odd things that I then see make it onto TikTok and think I should write that down as clearly others really are interested. Quite happy to share some of what I do with the glass but always a little awkward as there are some truly amazing makers out there who have been at it for years and I still feel a bit shy at showing what I've been up to.
